They aren't obligated, but they really should. Most men find it unattractive to see women with armpit hair and mustaches and such. Obligated? No. Should they though? Yes.

My wife shaves her legs/pits/typical feminine stuff and her "area", and it'll stay that way.

I reckon that if a woman is obligated to shave, a man should too. I mean, do we really think all our hairy arms and legs are attractive either?

i think there's less of a consensus on whether hairy men are attractive to women than men who arent as hairy |

Men have a lot more hair to shave though. And it's a lot harder to shave around a penis than a vagina, that's for sure. How do you even shave a scrotum? That just sounds extremely dangerous to me, waxing less dangerous but still seems overly painful. Not that men should get away with never "manscaping" I think a bit of trimming in that area is definitely necessary but to keep yourself totally bare down there is a lot to ask. You'd have to be a special kind of person to want razor sharp bit's of mental near your junk, what if you suddenly sneezed? At least women get a flat surface to shave/wax. Being smooth and hairless just looks strange on your average podgy male, it only really suits muscular men with properly toned bodies, so as to show that off. If you're kind of fat and a bit hairy taking that hair away doesn't really help your image any it just accentuates your figure where hair would kind of cover it up. And that goes for women too being hairless accentuates your curves which is what's instinctively attractive not due to society. |

Well shouldn't we be considerate to women here too about the entire razor bits of metal near your privates? I've heard stories of women sneezing or something like that and leaving cuts and stuff near their privates. From personal experience, never try anything to shave your pubes, unless you have steady hands like a doctor, something wrong is going to happen. Edited by Goddess Ultimecia, Aug 11 2013, 11:56 PM.

It's a lot easier for women though it's barely different from shaving other parts, would just induce more paranoia but there's no real damage that could be done unless for whatever reason they were aroused. Any slight mistake shaving your penis or scrotum and there's going to be blood everywhere and an embarrassing trip to the hospital plus you would have to be extremely careful to avoid any stimulation while cuts were healing, women don't really have that problem. So men shouldn't be obligated to keep it totally bare down there because it's just not a safe thing to do if you aren't skilled enough. But as I said we should be obligated to keep it tidy that's only fair, we shouldn't get away with having an afro down there. |

No one really shaves it all off. i did that years ago and I got red bumps and it was awful, never again. Trimming is the way to go, men shouldn't have to go completely bare. |

Women get red bumps, itching, and all that good stuff too. The red bumps become less frequent the more you shave. Also, from experience I would say that shaving "down there" can be pretty dangerous and extremely difficult. It takes a lot of time, and it sometimes will leave you feeling itchy and may even cause some pain. I think hair on men is completely disgusting, but maybe that's just me. Pit hair is gross regardless of gender. |

I think the double standards of sorts comes from the fact that men on the whole have a lot more body hair than women do, so expecting them to shave it is seen as more unreasonable. Plus traditionally women tend to care more about their appearance, so more women shave which creates an expectation or pressure for other women to follow suit. It's one of those things that has built up over time and is basically accepted now. Double standards exist everywhere, I'm pretty apathetic towards them now and just roll with it. |

Honestly I think the pressure is because most men do not like hairy women and I think its just that. I wouldn't like my future wife to have hair everywhere, its just not what I like. |

It has just become a stereotype at this stage for women really. |
